2015: explore Miami after the event
The Miami 360° Experience is the aftermovie. Viewers can choose where to look as they explore Miami Music Week from Hardwell’s perspective. It is a film you can return to, pause and explore in your own time. The video linked here is that aftermovie, separate from the later live broadcast.
2016: be there as it happens
On 16 March 2016, we brought Hardwell’s Revealed event in Miami to fans in live 360° with Littlstar. Leaseweb’s case study documents the delivery of the live experience.
The timing matters: this happened before YouTube introduced native 360° livestream support in April 2016. YouTube’s own live API history records that support on 18 April. We were working with a dedicated partner while the major platform’s live format was still to come.
Choose the format for the experience
These projects reflect what excites me about technology in music. A format can let someone participate in a moment they would otherwise miss. That is a concrete reason to try it.
I like to look ahead, find the people who can help make an idea real and get to work. The artist and the audience should remain the starting point. My interest is in what an experience adds to their relationship, and whether it is worth their time.
